Can’t I just handle my personal injury claim myself?
In my opinion no, but any individual can, constitutionally, try to represent themselves at any time. However, there are many, many mistakes that you can make if you are not aware of the law and many of those mistakes, once made, cannot be fixed or “undone”. Insurance companies have no obligation to inform you about subrogation liens or the common fund doctrine and, keep in mind, that the insurance companies have lawyers on staff working against you with a goal of settling a claim for a little as possible.
